The Coe College chapter of the Society of Physics Students has been recognized for its excellence as a top-tier student-led physical sciences organization.
Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association designed for students — with membership open to anyone interested in physics and related fields. SPS operates within the American Institute of Physics, an umbrella organization for professional physical science societies.
Coe’s SPS chapter received a 2017-2018 Outstanding Chapter Award through the SPS National Office. This designation is awarded to fewer than 10 percent of all SPS chapters at colleges and universities throughout the world. Chapters that are honored excel in research, public science outreach, tutoring programs, representation at physics meetings and social interaction of chapter members.
The internationally recognized Coe College Physics Department provides comprehensive and balanced training to prepare students for graduate work, industry professions or teaching careers. Over the last 40 years, all Coe physics majors accepted to graduate school have received full fellowships, stipends and scholarships to attend. They move on to graduate programs in physics, engineering, mathematics and computer science at schools like Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, MIT and top-tier graduate programs.
