Coe College announces new scholarship initiative for Illinois residents
Coe College is pleased to announce a new scholarship program designed to provide significant financial support to qualified students from Illinois. Eligible first-time students enrolling at Coe in Fall 2025 will receive an Illinois Kohawk Award matching the amount of the Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant. This grant offers $8,400 per year in additional scholarships to eligible Illinois residents on top of Trustee Scholarships already valued at up to $40,000.
This initiative provides economic clarity regarding college pricing and access to a transformative higher education experience. On the heels of the Department of Education’s announcement of another Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) delay, this increased funding will help ensure Illinois students have the opportunity to pursue higher education without financial uncertainty.
“At Coe College, we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience that goes beyond the classroom. Our new scholarship program for Illinois residents is designed to open doors to unparalleled learning and networking opportunities, providing a valuable return on investment for our students,” said Associate Vice President for Enrollment Josh Kite.
By matching the state of Illinois MAP Grant, Coe expands initiatives aimed at offering a high-quality education at a reasonable cost while ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for successful careers and impactful lives. For the past decade, nearly 100% of reporting Coe graduates have been employed, in grad school or engaging in service within nine months of graduation. The latest national average is 86%.
Thousands of Coe alumni hail from the neighboring state of Illinois. This opportunity will ensure the continued legacy of Illinois Kohawks for years to come. Illinois high school students will be afforded every opportunity Coe offers as an urban campus in Iowa’s second-largest city. Coe has the #8 Career Services, the #22 Most Accessible Professors in the nation and for six of the last seven years, has been a Top 25 Best Private School for Internships — all ranks come from The Princeton Review.
“We believe that a Coe College education is an investment in a student’s future. This scholarship initiative not only alleviates financial pressure but also enhances access to our robust network of alumni and industry connections, positioning our Illinois graduates for success in their chosen fields,” said Coe President David Hayes ’93.
