Kohawk spring athletics rundown

Track & Field – The men’s and women’s teams competed in the 2025 American River Conference Outdoor Championships on May 10. On the men’s team, Chris Baker added another title to his historic Kohawk career with a victory in the hammer throw. Coe’s remaining point-scoring finishes were from relay squads, getting a sixth-place finish in the 4x100 with Joshua Peters, Isaiah Morgan, Jabari Woodbury and Talon Sargent posting a time of 42.78. Ryan Hines, Sargent, Isaiah Jakel and Robert Hansen and Jakel, Jared Thoma, Gad Kanago and Hansen registered a pair of eighth-place finishes for the Coe men in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays. The women’s team was led by four point-scoring finishes, including one individual effort from Sangai Dukuly and three relay teams that finished inside the top eight. Dukuly placed fifth in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 10.85m. Taiy Pruett, Dukuly, Josie Gehrke and Takyla Brown took seventh in the 4x100 relay. Gehrke, Pruett, Dukuly and Emily Andrade took seventh in the 4x400 relay. Brieannah James, Alexis Vaughn, Roz Hoefflin and Fiona Mahler concluded the point-scoring finishes in the 4x800 relay with an eighth place finish. Read more here.

Men’s Tennis – Coe College men’s tennis player Joshua Tiemann was named the American Rivers Conference Rookie of the Year, headlining a group of six Kohawks honored in the league’s postseason awards. Joining Tiemann on the all-conference lists are Ivan Burt-Smith, Grant Idoux, Bryton Short, Daniel Rohlman and Graham Peterson. Coe shared the honor for having the most selections in the conference. Tiemann, an all-conference honoree in singles and doubles, saw teammates Burt-Smith, Idoux and Short be named to the singles team while Burt-Smith, Rohlman, Kasai and Short were doubles selections. Peterson completed the all-league honors for Coe, earning honorable mention status for his fourth career all-A-R-C selection. Read more here.

Women’s Tennis – Coe’s women's tennis team made their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2018. The Kohawks dropped the tournament opener 4-2 on May 8 at the Stagg Tennis Courts on the University of Chicago campus. Coe's first point of the match came at number three after Maddie Schultz won in straight sets. Maria Bello Escobar also put points on the board for Coe at the number six spot, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.  Read more here.

Softball – The Coe College softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep on May 3. Coe entered the day needing a sweep and some help to keep its A-R-C tournament hopes alive. The Kohawks ended the season with a 6-10 conference record and a 15-25 overall record. Read more here.

Baseball – Coe’s baseball team saw its American Rivers Conference Tournament run come to a close on May 10 in an elimination game. They ended their season with a 17-7 conference record and a 28-13 overall record. Read more here.

Men’s Golf – The Coe College men's golf team concluded its 2025 season on April 29 at the American Rivers Conference Championships, playing the final 18 holes of competition at Glen Oaks Country Club. Matt Lawton and Lane Pierson turned in a pair of rounds in the 70s to conclude the tournament for the Kohawks, firing scores of 78 and 79 to lead the efforts in the final round. C. Reece Breitenbach was Coe's top finisher for the tournament, placing in a tie for 25th as he posted a final round of 82. Sam Scully and Gavin Jennings finished off the scoring for the Kohawks, placing 35th and T38 as they concluded the tournament with rounds of 83 and 85. Read more here.

Women’s Golf – The Coe College women's golf team had three top 20 finishers at the Loras College Spring Invite on April 14. Morgan Witte, Hannah Findly and Anja Mills paced the team with top 20 efforts, placing 14th, T16 and T18 respectively. Witte had rounds of 87 and 92 in tough conditions, making 11 pars across the 36 holes. Findly, competing as an individual, was T16 with rounds of 89 and 92, totaling nine pars in her two rounds. Mills was the final top 20 finisher with a total of 183 for T18 as she posted scores of 90 and 93. Kye Daywitt (26th), Madison Connolly (27th), Morgan Cain (T28) and Lia Maxwell rounded out Coe's individual finishes while the team placed fourth on the team leaderboard. Read more here.

Now in its 43rd year, this annual event has made a lasting impact on Coe Athletics — thanks to the generosity of our incredible community of golfers, sponsors, alumni, family and friends. Your support helps provide essential resources for student-athletes, including updated equipment, uniforms and travel opportunities.

More than just a fundraiser, this event is a celebration of all things Kohawk. It's a day filled with camaraderie, connection and support for the next generation of Coe athletes.Whether you're joining us on the course or as a sponsor, your participation helps Coe athletes soar. Coe Night at the Kernels 2025

June 28, 2025 is Coe Night at the Kernels and we want you to join us!

Get together with fellow Kohawks for a fun night of baseball and conversation at the McGrath Auto Party Plaza.

Tickets are $25/person (children under 5 are free) and include unlimited food and beverages.
Food and beverages include: hamburgers/cheeseburgers, hot dogs, brats, popcorn, peanuts, ice cream sandwiches, soda, bottled water and beer. Fireworks follow the final pitch, so plan to stick around!

Gates open: 5:30 PM
Food and beverages start: 6:00 PM
First pitch: 6:35 PM
