Coe College’s Prison Learning Initiative offers for-credit courses at Anamosa State Penitentiary, extending the college's mission to people incarcerated in Iowa, helping them develop valuable life skills, cultivate a sense of meaning and purpose and work toward degrees that will expand their professional and personal potential, enhancing their ability to thrive upon release.

PLI offers highly transferable introductory General Education courses and helps incarcerated students apply these credits to degree pathways at colleges and universities of their choosing. 

PLI partners with Iowa Department of Corrections which approved Coe in July 2024 to offer a higher education in prison program.
