The Telescope

 

  • PlaneWave Instruments CDK20 named after famed University of Iowa Professor Emeritus, the Robert L. Mutel Telescope.
     
  • Mounted on a motorized, remotely and robotically controlled mount.
     
  • Enables precise pointing and tracking of both sidereal (stars) and non-sidereal (planets, satellites) objects.

The Instruments

 

  • Coe Physics Department Faculty Member James Wetzel installs a fiber spectrometer adapter onto the SBIG AC4040 CMOS camera at Winer Observatory during a MACRO retreat.

The Filters

 

  • MACRO member Will St. John does routine maintenance to prepare the filters for installation at MACRO's yearly Hands-On Maintenance Experience on site at the Winer Observatory.
